I am Julia Kesler, a private holistic chef and local food activist, dedicated to changing the way we think about what we eat by committing to sustainable and locally sourced ingredients.

A graduate of New York University, I have a degree in Urban Food Systems from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. During my time at NYU, I studied in NYC, Berlin and Cape Town, assessing urban food systems in order to understand the limitations that underserved urban communities face when it comes to food access. Today, I live in Atlanta, GA, working to change the way our city eats through the way we understand and talk about our food - one bite at a time.


I come from three generations of passionate food lovers. My incredible grandmother has always been my inspiration. In her kitchen, everything is made from scratch - from the fresh bread to the dill mayonnaise. Deemed the "Julia Child of Cape Town”, my grandmother worked as a food writer for South Africa's Fair Lady Magazine for over 30 years, and is now the brains behind South Africa's Cape Legends Chef's Challenge - helping young chefs pursue their dreams. My dad inherited her culinary genes and spoiled our childhood with delicious, fresh foods, where nothing went to waste. Growing up, we never had snacks lying around after school. Instead, I realized I had to choose my ingredients from the fridge and create something on my own. I am truly grateful for learning to appreciate what I put into my body, where my food came from, and not to waste at such a young age.

Now, I am working to bring more people real food and support our local farmers. For health and wellness guidance, I work very closely with nutritionists across Atlanta to create balanced menus that meet my clients wellness goals. I strive to practice what I preach by maintaining my own garden and discovering new avenues to access local ingredients in my city. Through Stop Think Chew, I prepare custom, healthy meals for you and your family that can be prepared as needed or stored weekly for easy prep and planning. I look forward to sharing my recipes with you.
